Location Revealed

Still not home yet, but completed most of my trip at this point. Where did I go? On an Alaskan Cruise with 11 other family members (4 end up missing the boat). My grandfather very generously paid for the entire family to explore Alaskan highlights by boat.

My green loving heart was so happy to see endless greenery! And actually needing my jacket on a daily basis was pretty sweet too. :)

Good thing most quilters can understand a bit of non-quilty content during the summer. There's things to do, places to see, family and friends to visit!

Vay-cay-shun!

I'm off for a bunch of fun and craziness with my side of the family!

It involves 16 people, lots of tiny spaces and a need for plenty of humor. ;) But it's great seeing folks that I haven't seen in 5 years - since my wedding.

Old mystery top

I finally got all the rows sewn together! I mystery-tested this pattern three years ago for Cathy-O, and didn't touch it since. Yes, the previous post is a bit deceiving. :P

It measures 60" square, and I'm pretty sure I can dig up enough of the green to make a binding.

Hopefully it won't take another 3 years for me to quilt it! :D

Patriotic Show

My last quilt guild meeting had a red-white-blue show of quilts. I grabbed my camera with me and figured I'd get some eye-candy. I'm sure you'll be able to tell that I really favor stars! :)

I'm not sure why, perhaps because stars can give a nice "pow" to a quilt.

I was sorta hoping that I would feel inspiration to make my own patriotic quilt. How sad is it that I don't have any RWB quilts or tops of my own?

The biggest thing that holds me back is my intense dislike of red! I tried to force myself to use it more by buying red fabric. Still sits nicely on my shelf. :P

I can tolerate some darker shades of red, like the one in the last quilt. But bright vibrant red? I advert my eyes and hold back any shudders.

I can quickly forget about red just by spending some time with my beloved green. ;)
