Quickie... post! ;)
I spent most of this weekend ironing open these HSTs. They are 2" unfinished.
I'm thinking about making Bonnie's Ocean Waves... yeah, not a fast and easy project there! :P She said she used over 2,000 HSTs... I'm 25% there, 526 half-square triangles. I keep count by pinning them into groups of 10. They are all "leftovers" from double sewing 2.5" squares onto my Star Struck and Snowball blocks. The good news is that I need to make a lot more Star Struck blocks, so I'm sure I'll accumulate more. :)
Must... get... my... brain... into... Christmas!! I found out the other day that I'll be going to San Diego for Christmas and we'll be celebrating my grandfather's 75th birthday, his retirement and Christmas. It'll be pretty special for him, since he'll have all three sons, their wives and kids and my husband. :P Yeah, I'm the only "grandkid" that's married. But gotta start getting some creative ideas for gifts! I'd love to give everybody a quilt, but I'm not superwoman. ;)

Ocean waves is a beutiful quilt, but gosh... you need a lot of half-square triangles.
I am getting in my christmas mood today. The first day with snow where I live. The lawn is white, but I do not think it will last....or perhaps....last year the first snow did not go away. So now is the time starting christmas gifts. I give some of my quilting friends a little surprise every year. This year I am thinking of making luggage tags, or small CQ hearts.
You're a brave girl to tackle an Ocean Waves! But it will be GORGEOUS made with those black/handdyes!
You might not be able to make a quilt for everyone on your list but I'm almost betting Grandpa has one coming to celebrate all those events. Am I right?
I stand in awe of your craftiness....I can't "seam" to get motivated.
I've never had that many pieces to put together. But rock on....!
I'll have to get some of that kona black. It is just so rich and awesome!!
You can do it. Once you set your mind to sewing the blocks they will come together so fast. In just 1 weekend you complete 1/4 of the blocks.
Christmas is coming? I thought it was postponed this year. :). Guess not, huh?
How fun to spend the holiday with tons of family. Have a great time.
Oh what a wonderful Christmas! And I LOVE your HSTs. An ocean waves would be so beautiful out of them - you have to do it!!!! I'm so glad I can finally start catching up again!
You have been busy. I lost your blog when I had to renew my computer and am very glad I found you again. I will have to go back and see what I missed. I love your color choices and your outcomes on quilt patterns.
WOW! What a lot of little pieces! I think that would look amazing with the black and hand-dyed fabrics though. The star struck that you did was absolutley GORGEOUS! Those lighter colors just POP with that black. I don't quilt (yet) but my grandmother did, quilts are such a treasure. Everytime I read your blog it makes me itch to try my hand at quilting. :o)
Wow girl you have been busy....You have got some beautiful projects going. Can't wait to see the final results. I love the way the black pops out at you on the 9 patch snowball quilt. I am making a bunck of blocks for swaps and cant wait to use them in projects. I did a log cabin swap using white and tan. I have a total of 24 blocks from that. I want to do some blue or green and white to make a huge quilt. One more project to add to the list. Have a great week and keep up the awesome work.
