What you do NOT want to hear...

From your sewing-machine-clueless husband, "Leah, I think somethings wrong with your machine."

*insert cuss word of your choice*

Oh boy. I don't know which puts more fear in me, hearing that your car's check engine light is on or hearing that your sewing machine of your dreams is making a funny rattling sound. Heh, probably the car, cuz it's more expensive.

And yes, I did everything I know of - cleaned the lint (maybe I should try vacuuming), oiling it with sewing machine oil, changing the needle, wiping everything spotless. And hubby said that it sounds better... but still "off". So I asked him if I should take it in. He said yes, without hesitations. Yikes, that's a bad sign!

But me without my sewing machine? That's like... not breathing! Lucky me, I'm going to Tucson on Tuesday and I'll drop off my machine at the Bernina Sewing Center. Ugh. My baby! How long will I have to be without my machine?

I hate August. Seems like the most expensive month every single year we've been married. Car troubles, now my sewing machine.

Oh, by the way, we also bought a laptop too. :P

I am with you. I had to break down and put my Bernina in for a checkout. I had never had it serviced. Scared me to death even though I took it to the dealer I was chicken to leave it! How silly we are but I agree with you. I guess you could play with the new laptop while it is gone. Or maybe clean your sewing room. Yuck. Or break down and buy a cheap machine and use it while the Dream is on vacation. You'll appreciate it more when it returns. Good luck!

You need a back up machine Leah. Cheap one from a garage sale and you are set for those sewing days when the "good" machine is getting a tune-up.

(I have two extra in the basement, if you come through Iowa I'll give you one! LOL!)

I hope your Bernina is easily fixed. Perhaps it only needs a tune up. What kind of laptop did you buy?

Ohhh no! I hope nothing is seriously wrong with your machine. I hate being machine-less when mine has to go in for service. Let's see...after re-organizing and admiring the stash, how about cutting for a new quilt? That would be fun. Best wishes.

OH how I hate to be without my machine..but I do dive into a bit of hand applique when I'm away from mine. If you are not happy with the Bernina Center..let me know. I have the number of a repairman who used to work for the Bernina Connection. He PAMPERS the machines!

Hopefully all you need is a yearly maintenance check for your baby! Luckily I have a "backup" machine (my first one) but I usually try to only work on a project I KNOW I can finish before my other machine gets back. Maybe you could look for one in garage/yard sales to be your backup?

In the meantime -- there's always cleaning, stash organization, etc...

Sorry to hear about your machine. I agree with another poster that it's a good time to cut out another project or six.

How IS the rash? I've been thinking about you/it a lot and wonder if you ever got it properly diagnosed?

You know 'bout the construction, right? Don't know if you're coming ALL the way into downtown, but get off at Prince and use the frontage if you are.

Wave when you're near, we gotta hook up one of these days girlfriend.

Glad to see you back posting, missed you!

I was wondering what you were up to ... haven't seen you post in ages.
So sorry to hear that your machine is sick - hope she gets better soon :)

Leah,

I've missed you and worried about you. You have been hiding. Hope your machine gets well soon. Not sure how you would handle it if it doesn't!

What is the status of your machine? I wished we live closer I have my mom's new machine and would lend it to you.

How are you feeling? Have you stopped itching?
