As I was cutting a HST, my right index finger was just a little too close to the ruler's edge and I cleanly sliced off the tip of my finger.
Gasping, crying, bandages, tylenol, ointment cream and typos is how I'd describe the rest of my day.
By far, this is my worse cut. It still badly stings 9 hours and 4 tylenols later. I've been able to keep it from bleeding all over the place, but I'm so drained from the constant ache!
Hopefully tomorrow will be better... and maybe I can finish cutting my HSTs - one piece is still in mid-slice! :P

I once saw a lady in JoAnns, piling up fabric, but her left hand and arm was all encased in some serious bandages. I asked her what happened, and she said her rotary cutter 'skipped' across the ruler ... my word, she had some serious damage, stitches, tendon/or nerve??? damage. But she still had an entire shopping cart loaded with fabric!!! Not sure what I learned THAT day, other than "Be Careful." Feel better soon.

Oh Leah - that is awful - are you sure you don't need a tetnus shot or stitches? I"m kind of sick just thinking about it.....
Oh. Sorry--fingers really hurt. I once tried to cut my finger off while cutting chicken wings...it hurt for days!! So far, the rotary cutter has been my friend. Wishing you a quick recovery.
I can so sympathize! If you remember I sliced deeply into my left finger last spring. Had 3 stitches in the emergency room. Mine was half way through the fingernail too. Thank goodness neither of us cut into the nail bed - the nail would always grow with a split if we had. Now I have a definite slope to the side of that finger that didn't used to be there.
Leah, I am so sorry about this. I am wincing right now. I hope I never do that. Praying for quick healing for you.
